About Us
Saddleback Foods & Smokerie was established in the spring of 2000 by Mark Atkinson & Jane Farkins. We outgrew our original unit, which was at the foot of Blencathra, colloquially termed Saddleback because of the curved ridge at it’s peak. We are now based at Mark’s family farm, in the heart of the Eden Valley, in custom built premises. This has enabled us to expand our product range from smoked produce into ready meals, quiches, roast and cured meats, pates and most important, fresh meat straight from the farm and game from our own and neighbouring shoots and estates. It is in our quest to only use local produce wherever possible – meat from the family farm, game from our own shoot, free range eggs provided by a lady who works for us and even our own water supply from a borehole - to cut down on those often totally unneeded “food miles”. |
